Meet Madison

Art has followed me around ever since I was a child.

I grew up in Eastern North Carolina, spending summers at the crystal coast and the rest of my time loving all animals and nature. Reflecting on my childhood, I was always drawn to creating. Although I did just about everything, (dance, every sport, horseback riding… you name it) art always found a way into my life. I was lucky enough have an amazing high school art program, where my art teacher continued to push me in all the best ways to create.

I left NC in 2012, after the history and beauty of Charleston, SC stole my heart. I ended up graduating from the College of Charleston in 2016 with a degree in Historic Preservation and Community planning. Somehow I was also able to major in Studio Art & Art History, although this was never my intended career path. Again, art kept following me around.

I returned back to Eastern North Carolina in hopes of pursuing a career in community planning. Instead I found myself traveling up and down the eastern coast on a food truck book tour with a chef/cookbook author. The chef I worked for was an artist but also an amazing story teller. I learned about cooking, agriculture, and so much about our Eastern North Carolina roots and traditions. Once returning from the tour, I decided I wasn’t leaving Eastern NC. I took a full time job in the small town of Kinston, NC. On the side, I found a local studio to continue to paint.

Somehow after this, I landed a sales position directing a local spiked seltzer brand. For three years, I learned sales, marketing, the ins and outs of business, and so much more. This job gave me the courage and confidence to become a full time artist in February of 2023.

Today, I live in the beautiful little waterfront town of New Bern, NC with my husband, Taylor, and dog, Mako. My art is driven by my many loves and passions. I love pattern and design. I love all animals and nature. I love my home and the people who fill my life. Telling a story is what gives all of my work purpose. I hope you can find joy in my work as I have.

Sincerely,
